John D. Nichol’s life of ministry spanned nearly six decades. He was first known for his fiery brand of Pentecostal preaching. More than 6,800 people testified to receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit through his ministry.
Nichols served on the Church of God International Executive Committee from 1986 to 1994.
During his twelve-year tenure as director of Church of God benevolence ministries (1994-2006), the Division of Care was begun. Under his leadership, a $5 million General Assembly offering was received, enabling the establishment of thirty-five children’s homes around the world. Also, Operation Compassion was organized, which has become one of the world’s most effective relief agencies.
Douglas LeRoy, former director of World Missions, said, “John D. Nichols was a man of integrity and vision. his powerful preaching and compassionate care impacted millions.”
