When Curtis Grey was born in Jamaica in 1934, his mother prayed, “Lord,
make him a Church of God minister and use him as You see fit.” God
answered her prayer in an incredible way.
After 17 years of influential ministry in England, Bishop Grey received a
missionary call from the Lord: “As my Father hath sent me, even so send I you
—Africa!”
He spent 30 years in Africa, facing tremendous challenges—including the
loss of his wife, Betty, leaving him as a single father with eleven children. Yet,
Dr. Grey pioneered the Church of God in nine African nations, reestablished it
in two others, and later founded the Pan African Christian University College.
In between his appointments in Africa, Dr.
Grey and his second wife, Mary, served two
terms in North Carolina as black ministries director,
where he planted several churches.
Dr. Grey said, “I was not eager to write my
autobiography. However, because of the many
requests, especially from
younger ministers, to put
some of my experiences
and history in writing, I
have humbly attempted to do so. My prayer is that this
will bring glory to Jesus Christ and edification to many.”
